Legend tells us that the sun and the moon emerge from an eastern cave in the Dominican Republic. It is in this cave that bats were found. These bats were allowed free range while the sun rested. But if outside after sunrise, these bats would be transformed into stone, building our caves and mountains. Eventually these bats were mosre sustainably turned into the grass, trees and eventually humans making the Buyiri our ancestors.
